Starting March 4th, 2023, the Atlanta Preservation Center‘s annual Phoenix Flies event returns for its 20th year! If anyone ever tells you that “there’s nothing to do in Atlanta,” prove them wrong by sending them on one (or more) of the APC’s amazing and FREE tours! Tell your friends to check out the Phoenix Flies 2023 Program for a comprehensive listing of all the participating organizations.
And in particular, tell them to register for a Guided Walking Tour of Fulton Bag & Cotton Mills, which runs all four weekends – with a tour on each Saturday and Sunday.
BUT HURRY! The Patch Works’ tours can only accommodate a limited number of guests and so they fill up quickly.
In the words of the APC:
Mark your calendars for March 4-26! Phoenix Flies: A Celebration of Atlanta’s Historic Sites provides an opportunity to learn about, celebrate, and strengthen Atlanta’s historic and cultural assets. Created in 2003 by the Atlanta Preservation Center, Phoenix Flies celebrates the anniversary of the dramatic rescue of the Fox Theater, an event that permanently shaped Atlanta’s preservation ethos.
Phoenix Flies 2023 is the 20th year that the APC has brought together organizations and individuals from the community to demonstrate the value of Atlanta’s historic built environment. From museums to adaptive reuse projects, to neighborhood tours to public libraries, this year’s 90 new and returning partners are offering incredible free events!
Registration will open on Friday, February 17 at 10am at preserveatl.eventbrite.com and all the events can be viewed in the digital program at issuu.com/preserveatl.
We look forward to celebrating Atlanta’s historic built environment of buildings, landscapes, and neighborhoods with you. Follow the Atlanta Preservation Center on social media @preserveatl to stay connected during this three-week long event!
